An acquaintance of mine, whom I met through the temple and joined me for a B'not Mitzvah (plural for Bat Mitzvah) 3 and a half years ago, started a Wellness Challenge that I decided to join. It came to me like fallen from the sky. Is that an expression here too? Anyway, to me it means I was looking for such a thing for so long without knowing how to get access to it. She posted it on FB a month ago and I said HELL yeah! Right away!
The Challenge.
Starting yesterday and for the next 6 weeks I need to:
* contact a teammate daily
* drink 64oz of plain water daily
* eat 3 real vegetables daily
* eat 2 real fruits daily
* have no sugary treats or sweets 6 days of a week
* exercise 30 mins or 45 mins 5 days of a week
* keep a food journal
* create a weekly goal for challenge weekly
Yep!
I signed to that. I gave $25 to my friend. I have to keep the points and give them to her weekly, that way at the end of the challenge those who win can get most of the money. Those who made second place get a consolation prize and those who tried get the heart ready for the next, I guess. I want to win, I want to be healthy, I want to get healthy habits! yes, yes, yes!
Problems.
* Laziness: I am usually a lazy, lazy, lazy, lazy, lazy woman. I make my own tiny goals to go to the gym, to exercise and I always say. I'll start tomorrow. I'll start next Monday, and so forth.
* Bad Choices: Lately, I have been struggling with making bad choices when it comes to health. my weekly goals are not to eat any sweets but at night, I almost feel like I have this candies/chocolate/anything sweet addiction. I fall for it, I buy the bars, the packages.
* Bad Habit: eating late at night "Chocolate or candies" and sometimes any food.
* Going late to bed: My children go to bed at 8:30pm I could easily be in bed at 10pm. It is getting worse, sometimes it is past midnight and I am still up.
* No fruits: I buy the fruits, they are in my fridge. The act of putting them in my mouth. Impossible! Sometimes the fruits go unopened straight to the garbage can. Money thrown away.
This shit has to stop!
WEEK 1
DAY1
Weight: 130lb
Weekly Challenge goal: Go to my 5 gym classes
Monday: Yoga
Wednesday: Barré
Thursday: Zumba
Friday: Yoga
Sunday: Yoga Fusion with Pilates
I woke up, took my vitamins, supplements and medicine all with 1/2 cup of oj as suggested by my doctor. Apparently, before breakfast and with the help of oj the body absorbs better. Go figure!
-I had my regular breakfast, one bowl of cookie cereal, with 1% lowfat milk lactaid.
-Went running to my Yoga class. Check! I almost puked my breakfast because ate right before my class. Since it had been long without doing any yoga at all, my arms were on fire while doing 'Adho Mukha Svanasana' (downward facing dog), then the teacher make us warm up for 'Garudasana' (eagle pose), and while contorting my arms I could not feel more pain. I had never fell this type of pain before, but what the f, here I am. I am frigging regretting this shit goal I put on myself! However, slowly the poses started to easy and I started to feel why I was there.
-Had my lunch (this is my every business day lunch for the last 4/5 years? maybe?). Shrimp Salad. I just love it. Yesterday, I ate it with cucumbers, sliced string cheese and zucchini. Yum! I am hungry already.
-Had a banana before I went to pick up the girls.
-Had 4 of the 8 glasses (80z each) plain water.
-While food shopping with one of the girls, she insisted I cook steak fajitas, I said yest to that because she is usually a very picky eater and anything that takes her out of the normal food she eats it is a win! So...
-We had 2 tortillas, steak with caramelized onions, original rice, guacamole (boy was that spicy!), green beans on the side and the girls ate it with lettuce. Yummy!!
-I had 2 more glasses of water.
-I had pomegranate and mix nuts with raisins and on the side dried cranberry.
-had 4 more glasses of water. Only because once past 9pm, and my stupid bad habit of eating late almost got the best of me! Boy, did I struggle to not eat anything after 9? Water, water, water, water.
Almost didn't make it, but I did it. ;) Yay!
