Project #2

Reupholstering my sewing room chair.

This one as easy as the first one.
 I used the same materials:
*Fabric scissors
*Sewing pins
*Wood stapler
*Stapler remover
*Hammer
*Furniture fabric

On the last post I forgot to mention that we need also a screw driver to detach the cushion we are reupholstering from the actual seat.

Once detached, I decided to take the black fabric off to take a clear view of the seat fabric's size. I also wanted to make it look more professional.

Once you see how the professionals did it, then you can be sure you will do a good job!

I never take the fabric already on the seat. Why? Because I think it will make my life easier. The foam is already in place; so why to mess up with that? I haven't worked with an old chair yet, so when it comes to that I will do it. For now, let's go easy peasy.

I decided I wanted to use this fabric on my dining chairs as well so I bought 3 yards for 7 chairs. I measure it by eye (not the greatest way to go), but in the past it has helped me. I thought it I run short I will just go back and get more. The fabric place had a lot of this fabric so... I measured to make sure I could cut 8 pieces. As you see, the first piece is not only big enough but it is a little larger then the actual seat. This seat is a bit smaller than the dining chairs.

Once the fabric was on top of the chair, I realized I had to cut a little more.

As you see here, I already stapled the chair on the four sides. Leaving always last the corners.

This time I did not fold fabric and I guess it was much easier than I thought.

That blue spot on the fabric is for me to recognize where the screw of the chair goes.

So, I would not make a lump on the fabric on that area.

It is definitely easier and helps go faster, if the holes for the screw have no fabric.

Also the blue spot helps figure out where to install the black fabric that goes on top.

Stapling the black fabric is not difficult at all, it is a matter of finding the holes.

Once the fabric is in, the last step is to screw the cushion back to the chair

I, sometimes, insert the screws in the chair a little bit so I can match up the cushion holes with the chair screws.

and Voilá! It is done! and I am jumping up and down of happiness!

Love it!

Latina's out!
